In the last installment Hailey and Austin had my attention so I was glad they had their own story. They are both awesome and I love how he became so invested in her safety from listening to the potential danger Hailey was being put in by her brother. I didn't do a full 5star and instead a 4.5 is because Hailey and her faith in Jeremy I think went too far and I thought it was silly of her to continuously doubt Austin considering what he does for a living. At first I was annoyed he kept evading her questions but she wouldn't had believed him anyways. I loved their love scenes. They were beautiful. I loved hearing about my favorite past characters!! The sex trafficking was hard to take but it's real life. I wanted to save them myself lol

I just couldn't stop reading Hailey's Truth, because I had to get to the part I knew was coming the scene wherein Hailey finally DISCOVERS the truth.
Hailey, a product of foster care after her adoptive parents die tragically, is a beautiful but understandably insecure woman who is determined to 'save' her younger also -adopted brother, Jeremy. It takes a great deal of drama, action, and horrifying violence, but eventually our gal understands that Jeremy cannot be saved, but not before her life and limb are under dire threat from the very evil Mexican Mafia, who feel extremely real in this book.

To the rescue rides Austin Casey, a member of the Body Guards. Handsome, strong, and caring, Austin finally succumbs to Hailey's endearing qualities and falls in love with her....a very good thing, as she has loved him for years!

The non-stop action, tense scenes, and gruesome murders are interspersed with acts of tender love-making and playful moments between the two lovers. Set in Mexico, the setting and situation are both well-defined and explained, and the secondary cast of characters give weight to the story.

This is my first Cate Beauman novel; it will most definitely not be my last......and now to sleep, finally.
I loved this whole series. This book could be read as a stand along, but its better if you start with Morgan's Hunter (book one in the bodyguards of L.A. County series. The last book had me spinning with all the action, romance, and the emotions that Austin and Hailey were going though. There were a couple of places that had my eyes tear up. This book is a real page turner. Don't start this book in the afternoon; because you won't want to put it down to go to bed.

Twenty minutes latter, two noisy, chattering groups wandered to the vans waiting at the edge of the main building. Austin led from the front, serious, official, in work mode, as Jackson stayed to the back. Hailey attempted to hurry ahead, wanting to talk to Austin. He'd barely spared her a look since her conversation with Donte. She wanted to make sure he hadn't gotten the wrong impression. "Excuse me." Hailey smiled as she hurried by another teammate dragging a bulging suitcase. The commotion and screams of the lead group stopped her in her tracks. "get them back inside" Austin shouted to Jackson. Jackson rushed forward, herding frantic and confused members to the sliding doors. "Everyone in. Lets go." As the crowd dissipated, Hailey stood frozen in her spot, Horror - struck. Right in front of her were four bloody bodies.
I have read 3 other books in this series and have enjoyed them. This one...not so much. Hailey is the problem. Good grief, she is unforgivably stupid. I don't understand why Austin even liked her. I liked him and I thought his actions were justified. He was dealing with a nut-bag, irrational woman. I has to skip large chunks of the story because I couldn't stand her. Read #1 , those were fantastic. I've started #4 with high hopes. Hopefully it's not another idiot woman. I understand that not all women can be strong, but I'd like her to at least become strong and such. Even at the end she had to be a butt to him. If this was real I'd say they had a hard hard road ahead of them. Ugh, I want to slap her! I gave it 2 because while she ruined it for me, the other characters and plot were good and I like the author.
Of the three, this book was -I don't want to say bad because it wasn't- but maybe just OK. From reading the two before, I would have believed Hailey to be smarter, tougher. She wasn't. In fact, her naivete got on my nerves...a lot. I understand the want to hold on to something important, as Hailey tried to do with her brother, but the situation wasn't fitting. Many who grow up in bad situations -myself included- are often more wary instead of more trusting.

Which brings me to something else from Hailey's past. It was written that the new foster mother was cruel, evil, and that her words left Hailey damaged in her few previous relationships. But that was only touched upon for pages and then quickly forgotten. Not one more word was written on it for the rest of the book. I don't know why that bothers me, it just does. Maybe because sex, no matter how good, doesn't heal scars. The "ghosts" no matter how loved you become, no matter how hard you love in return, will always lurk around looking for their opportunity to jump out and yell "BOO!". But hey, this is fiction, right?

Anyway, I know I made this book sound bad, but it's not. It is definitely worth reading. Just don't expect in to have the intensity of Morgan's Hunter, or the pain and sweetness of Falling for Sarah.

I look forward to the next novel in this series. I find Beauman's writing to be very interesting. The suspense is always gripping, this book not being an exception.
