Usher states at the beginning about embellishing the story a bit. It is a bit factual, fictional, and informative. Yes, he does quote a lot of other famous authors, but I wouldn't say the book is plagiarized. He mentions principles that he read from other others. There is nothing wrong with that. That is how you build credibility. It is a good read when you transition from textbooks to/from personal development (guru) books. Also, it is good for basically getting summaries out of other (audio) books. In short, you could read 4 or 5 books to get a better idea of what business is like.
I would recommend know your basics like a business 101 book, economics or finance, marketing, personal development, and a field specific book such as project management, media development, real estate.
If you have read books on how to build a business you only have four real options:
1: You take out a loan like everyone else.
2: Get investors to fund your business.
3: Have more than one occupation where you take your income from one occupation and fund your business until its large enough to fund itself.
4: You earn a little bit of money then put it back into the business. Build a little then put it back in. This way (usually) takes a very long time. I do think Usher put in a lot of work and got lucky in some instances.
Sometimes you can get a grant to start a business, but that is about as reliable as the lottery.
To get a good idea how much it should cost you, check out Forbes for startup costs.
It is possible to start a business with less than $100, but it is very unlikely and depending on the field you may be very short lived. It is possible to create a real-estate company with even $100, but you need to find where in the world can you find a dwelling for that much. If you have the skill or knowledge, put forth a lot of effort, add some luck, and network with people constantly you will last longer.
Overall, if you want to be entertained and know a bit about business then it is a good read.

Along with reading this excellent book, I have to take umbrage with one of the negative reviews. That person claims that it is impossible to get rich without marrying rich or crying to rich parents for money. I am a perfect example of going from rags to riches. I was a throwaway kid, kicked out of an alcoholic household (my rats) at age 15, a young teenage girl, broke & homeless, and I NEVER went on public assistance of any kind and never entered foster care. I had many low paying jobs I didn't like, found a roof for rent, and by the time I was 20 I started my first business and retired after owning several more when I was 38. Most of my businesses cost me less than $1,000 to start, I didn't have to borrow any money from anyone, and NO ONE helped me - EVER. For the whiner in the negative review, instead of whining, try taking action. Try being determined and persistent. If you don't give up, these principles will really truly work. I highly recommend this book, an excellent, entertaining and educational read. Nice work! - Aimee Elizabeth, Author of Poverty Sucks! How to Become a Self-Made Millionaire.
I found this book really enjoyable. This is probably because it contains the story of the author as he learns life lessons on his road to improved wealth and security. I also like the 'no-fills' and down to earth writing style of the author. He speaks his mind because he has nothing to prove. This makes the story even more powerful.
There are plenty of 'make millions' books out there but following along with the author's journey endears the story to the reader I believe. The start of the book could be considered a little strange but it is there to convey a message which the intelligent reader will understand. The meat of the book is the author's story but it certainly contains plenty of insight and practical advice on what it takes to become 'financially free'.
The books is easy to read and the power of the story draws you into each chapter. The practical advice is a refreshing change from so many other money making books out there. If you are in business or if you are aiming to become financially independent that I'd certainly recommend this book and the advice contained within.
It is a very real and raw book about self not just about how to become a millionaire because you must know yourself first before anything else.
Awesome all the way to the end, consistent on its delivery and informative when it came to explaining how to become successful.
I have read many books like this one and would rate this book at the top of my list. Usher Morgan did a great job of allowing me to place myself in his shoes and to understand how he created the life he wanted. I have passed this book onto many people within my workplace.
Some good info, but lost me with the rat narrative
This is a superb book. Its origin is the entrepreneurial experience and growth of the author. That's what makes it so valuable. It isn't ivory tower professorial opinion. It's the story and explanations and inspirations of a guy who started down and out, lost it several times, and ended up succeeding bigtime. Furthermore, unlike a lot of guys like him, he doesn't fluff or smooth over the realities. He tells it like it is. This book will give you a rare combination of entertaining story, valuable advice and tips on making it in the real world, and mastering the inner game of business success. I found this book nothing short of fabulous. It is energizing, and liberating. It will liberate you from any excuses or fears about succeeding from whereever you are. Then, as I do, you'll want to refer back to it over and over, because reading even parts of it that you highlight, will be an instant vitamin shot of motivation. Buy, read and prosper.
